Lynn is an Associate Professor of Psychology at the UM Department of Psychology. She studies word learning and categorization in children with typical development and with language delays, including those with hearing loss or autism spectrum disorder. Post Baccalaureate Trainee: Juan Londoño

Juan is a recent graduate of the University of Miami, with a Bachelor’s in Psychology with a minor in criminology. He is interested in child development and neuroscience. He eventually plans to attend graduate school to earn a PhD. He received a supplement award from NIDCD to conduct post baccalaureate research using automated speech recognition tools to understand bilingual language development in children with hearing loss.

 

Project Coordinator: Sophia Meibohm

Sophia recently received her B.S. from the University of Miami, majoring in Neuroscience and Global Health Studies and minoring in Chemistry and Art History. She plans to attend graduate school and hopes to incorporate her interests in the fields of neuroscience and psychology and her passion for working with children into her career. She coordinates the Literacy project examining predictors of emerging literacy in children with and without hearing loss.

Celia Romero

Celia is a fourth-year graduate student at the University of Miami. She is interested in investigating the impact bilingual experience has on typical and atypical cognitive development.

 

Eraine Leland

Eraine is a second-year graduate student. She received her BA in Psychology and Spanish from Rhodes College. She is interested in bilingual language development and the impacts of diverse linguistic contexts.

 

Undergraduate Research Assistants

Natasha Epps

Natasha is a junior at the University of Miami majoring in Psychology with minors in Film and Marine Science. Her research interests include developmental and clinical psychology, as well as recreational therapy. After graduation, she hopes to work more with youth and attend graduate school.

 

Logan Lorie

Logan is a senior at the University of Miami, majoring in Communication Studies with a minor in Spanish. Post-graduation, her plan is to receive a Master’s degree in order to pursue a career in Speech-Language Pathology. She enjoys working with children and is interested in continuing this work in an academic setting.

 

Megan Mannix

Megan is a senior at the University of Miami majoring in Psychology and Advertising. She is interested in child psychology and loves working with kids. She hopes to attend graduate school in order to become a therapist in the future.

 

Samantha Weissman

Sam is a sophomore at the University of Miami majoring in Political Science and Psychology and minoring in Sociology and Dance. Her research interests include cognitive, social, and developmental psychology. Post-graduation, her plan is to combine her passions for law and psychology by attending law school in hopes of becoming a future lawyer.

 

Brielle Distler

Brielle is a junior at the University of Miami majoring in Psychology and Biology. Her research interests include clinical psychology, behavioral psychology, and psychopharmacology. Post graduation, she plans on earning her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology to further pursue her academic career.
